Social Media

There are so many ways to keep in touch today.  Social media has created many good connections and has reconnected long lost friends.  Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and others I'm not as familiar with, abound.  A person can spend many hours browsing through these, clicking on links to look at other websites and pictures and receive a lot of information about a lot of things.

One thing I have noticed is all the Christian posts.  Many people, myself included, find great nuggets to share.  It may be a Bible verse, a worthy quote or a beautiful picture.  As I was reading a book by Henry Blackaby this morning he talked about our service to God.  God doesn't want lip service, He wants our lives.  He told us to take up our cross daily and follow Him.   And He was saying to them all, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake, he is the one who will save it." Luke 9:22-24.

It's easy to be on one side of a screen posting great quotes for all our friends to see.  How are we living our lives?  Do we deny ourselves daily?  We will be criticized, we will be mocked and made fun of as we deny ourselves, because that is foolishness to a lost world.

Do we take up our cross daily and follow Him?  A cross is not easy to bear.  Following Jesus every day is not possible on our own strength.  Even the disciples scattered and they truly walked with Jesus every day.

Be sure to be in the Word each day.  The quotes are great, but Truth is found in the pages of the Bible.  Then live your life to His glory, no matter what the watching world says or does to you.

It will be eternally worth it.
